It doesn’t sound like a big deal when I tell people that I was woken at 8am by a nightmare, but consider that I tend to sleep from 4am to noon and maybe you’ll get the idea. That’s sort of like normal sleeping creatures waking up at 3am and not being able to fall asleep. Sunlight streaming and a massive weight in my chest and images and words inescapable in my head. I can still feel it all pushing against my lungs, and my body’s tense and not sure if it wants to fight or run. Conversations are turning sour and I want to turn it all off.
