And let it be known that I received this email today:
“My 10th grade homecoming date is a ROCK STAR!”
HA!
Last night my 9th grade homecoming date (yes, she was the older woman) came to hang out with us as we played the Bowie Old Town Grill open mic. It was the first time she’s ever seen me perform, really and it was cool to get such a response.
Tomorrow’s my birthday. I don’t want to be old.
Later, in the studio, I become convinced that all of my guitar playing is a fluke. Listening to all five takes of Wreckingball, and I don’t think I’ve produced ANYTHING usable, which sucks. I’m frequently fearful that I was a great jumping off point, or an awesome inspiration for a band, but now that I’ve drawn it all together, I’m the one holding it back.
Other people are going to speak up and remind me that other people’s albums take years and tens of thousands of dollars – but I should pretty much be able to shit out a good performance whenever, because we do it so fucking often – and yet though I’m probably the most steadily experienced of any player I know, I’m probably the least consistent, and I don’t understand why that should be at all.
Oh… never mind… (mixing right now)… I rock. I AM kind of worried that this is becoming a much larger project than I’d originally hoped. What started off as Matt Polanchak or Transcendent Third offering to record a couple of songs for us at the UMBC studio has managed to turn into seven full band songs being recorded and one Heather and rob tune.
I’m kind of worried that I’ve really taken advantage of the situation, but it’s just sort of turned out this way. It looks like I’ll be building the Transcendent Third website though – which is totally fair.
