It’s 2am and I came home with Dan and Jess. I’ve never been to their place before, and I’ve enjoyed exploring all the weird electronic STUFF that Dan has. We’ve been listening to HAM radio and static and people bleeping to one another from distant countries in Morse code. Dan was talking to a guy from a little town in Italy for a little while just to show off how he could communicate fluently in dots and dashes. I was properly impressed. It’s rare that I encounter something new and magical. This counts – and I’m simply so glad that Rowan couldn’t take me in tonight. Listening to the static softly reminding me that there are other continents and a sea of RF radiation between here and there and all the other humans in the universe – it’s like when my dad would bring home recordings from the big radio telescopes as they scanned the skies, simply listening to the noise of Jupiter or the Sun or the waves of hiss and pop of the space between the stars – What an amazing THING we inhabit!

This was my favourite crab. His name was Pinchy. He pinched. A lot.
Back at JP Hops in Houston, TX – a group of people at the bar do important Do Wop duty at the open mic, adding Lovely harmony. Later, they joined me on “Oh Damn” and a couple of other easily be-harmonied tunes.
