A very long drive yesterday – driving from Western Illinois all the way to eastern Ohio, Heather and I arrived at Sara’s parents’ house after about eleven hours in the car, utterly exhausted. No one had an easy travel day – Indianapolis traffic broadcasts said terrible things like “All the North East is just a mess!” – Sara’s flight had been cancelled, and though she eventually made it as far as Cleveland on board a 19-person prop plane, her luggage never made it – and her little sister got hit by a deer somewhere outside of Pittsburgh while stopped at an intersection. I hope everyone else just decided to stay put this past Friday.

Heather and I playing at the Phoenix Cafe in Lakewood, Ohio.It was a good show, populated at first mostly by Sara’s family, but then slowly expanded as foot traffic wandered through and crept and stayed, stopped and listened and sat on the floors when the chairs ran out.
Outside of Cleveland, OH – Heather and I are staying with Sara’s family in Mentor, and spend a lot of time getting drooled on by this delightful boxer – Dublin. And by drool I mean foam. Hideous, horrific Love-foam.

Ok – FINE – THIS part of Ohio IS quite stunning. Autumn has struck with a vengeance, and yellow leaves are swirling elegantly at every step. The setting sun illuminates traffic as we make our way to our show. Ha – Halloween and football commercials. “T&A and liquid”. Says it all really. Tool raises its Lovely head on the stereo and I bow my head to the ironically titled “Sober”.
