Help save the Perk!
Well, there are two sides to every story and I’m glad that I’ve got a friend who I trust who is a member of “the Establishment” because it’s funny when “the Man” is, well, yes – white and male but also gay and trustworthy. Sigh.
The Perk’s side of the story? The City of College Park is trying to eliminate all the liquor licenses in College Park. They’re not sure why and it doesn’t make much sense. There’s a theory that with the new business proposals being floated by the city and the school they want to eliminate old licensees so that those spaces can be moved into by new businesses. It’s a popular thing to be debated at the bar right now. They’re printing flyers that say “help save the Perk!!!” – www.the-perk.com.
The council says something to the effect of – well, Chris has a county permit to sell alcohol but refuses to apply for a city license. Beyond that, he doesn’t have the licenses for the apartments he leases… it could go poorly. In any case – THEIR side of the story.
Attending a council meeting is one thing, protesting it is another. Our population is urged to get angry about a whole lot of different things – all I’m saying is – don’t get used. Know what you’re getting upset about.
