I admit. I am a glutton for my birthday. Often my plaintive cries of “MY DAY” have been expanded into “MY WEEK” and on one memorably occassion “MY MONTH!!!”. Fortunately for the rest of the world, Heather wasn’t having ANY of that and beat me down with something big and wrapped and heavy and the remainder of February was saved for all the REST of the good boys and girls.

Ah, the fine up-and-comers We’re Going to Hell For This performed “Drown”. I don’t have really good pictures of everyone – let it be known that Dave Perolman did an awesome version of “Drift”, Michael Berkowitz performed “Trouble”, Heather did “Cricket Hunt” and Hannah Spiro did a Lovely version of “Speaking Louder Now”. I approve.
Brennan Kuhns was the Lovely thinker-outer of the rob day show – about to perform an instrumental version of “Bulldozer”.

In any case, Heather and Brennan blind-slided me with the best birthday present EVER. I went to my alarmingly (and amazingly) over-crowded Wednesday night open mic and saw lots of wonderful people, but little did I know that Heather and Brennan had conspired with some of my favourite local singer/songwriters to do a rob-tribute.
I admit, I felt kind of bad for the one or two people who were entirely new to my open mic – who had no idea who I was much less that it was my birthday, they got shoved back on the list to get all the rob songs over with and had to wait through a LOT of “i LOVE YOU MAN”s over this guy they’d never heard of.
Poor souls.
Heather’s parents came out and brought me a wonderful bunny cake and sang “Happy Birthday” to me and generally I think this was my best birthday ever EVEN better than the one where all my friends surprised me and took me roller skating because THOUGH that was awesome that was when the girl that I wanted to go to prom with spent the entire party locked in the bathroom with the guy she eventually DID go to prom with.
Grrrowl.
