Oh God, it’s too early. But Heather’s destined to get her tattoo today, so we’ve got to make it from Louisville, KY to Columbus, IN by 11am. It’s not a long haul but we’ve been up FAR too late recently and 7am came FAR too early.
Last night we played the Kentucky BBQ Company in Louisville, KY and I was a little sad that that was how we were to end our time in this incredible town. As a show it was slightly anticlimactic. A nice enough stage and a nice enough crowd, but we’d grown used to intense, intimate crowds with low-slung ceilings, dim lighting and air only JUST clearing from the local smoking ban. This was comparatively white bread, but the show went alright and it was cool to finally see OK Zombie in person.
The only real disappointment was that Nick Peay ALSO uses an eBow, so I felt a little competitive! Still, people had been recognizing mine so I knew there must be at least one in the city.
It’s sunshiney with spats of rain careening out of the clearness. Moody and windy and bright and intense – it’s good, dangerous weather. Last night we’d been kept up by the loudest, brightest thunderstorm I’d ever encountered – flashes of lightning eye-searingly bright, lighting up the house – deafening thunder crashing viciously against my eardrums, rattling the windows. I didn’t really fall asleep till sometime after 4am even though I’d gotten into bed around midnight. An early night turned into a far too late night and I was kept awake long after the end of the storm, tossing and turning. I dreamt that this dog-friendly town was filled tonight with terrified canines, whining and howling, cowering under beds and fearing the sky in that belly-lowered way that dogs do.
Ha. My hair hurts.
