I think I’m appalled. I can’t decide if the terrorist attacks in Dubai are more or less appalling than the shooting in the Toys R Us and can’t decide if that’s more or less appalling than the trampling at the Walmart… but I’m sure I’m appalled.

The attacks in India are absolutely horrifying. Someone is fighting a war against people who didn’t know they were combatants. I don’t have any comprehension of what’s going on in that area other than India and Pakistan have issues with one another and both have the capacity to make their distress known with nuclear weapons. I don’t understand if they were killing Americans (as first reported – but apparently they only killed 6 out of the 180 people they slaughtered?), or killing Jews, or just out about causing mayhem. Well-planned and carrying automatic weapons and explosives but carrying bags of almonds rather than military rations… what does THAT mean?

At Toys R Us, two women with their men and children in tow get into a fist fight and the guys jump in with their guns. I kind of laughed at the fact that the first guy to draw apparently forgot to cock his weapon and must’ve provided an anticlimactic and unheard “click” for the retreating ring of onlookers. He doesn’t make the same mistake twice. They kill one another in front of the women who started it, in front of the children. The issue is not believed to be over toys… I’d imagine it wasn’t geopolitical or religious… the men took care of themselves, but what happens to the women? I’m hoping they’re getting charged with something fierce and I REALLY hope they’re not allowed to keep their children. Call me fascist but mothers who get into fist-fights at toy stores are not fit to be parents…. nor are mothers who bring fathers with loaded semi-automatic pistols.

Still… at least it wasn’t over shopping. The idea that people would trample and kill someone because they weren’t opening fast enough truly disgusts me. I’m sure no-one intentionally stomped anyone down, but to be that frenzied and unaware… I’ve already heard the reporters glorying in the idea that the media has raised Black Friday to such intensity that it encourages such behaviour. And I’ve already heard that Walmart encourages the craziness. I’ve heard all of that and am just as disgusted with the people reporting that as the people involved because there’s simply no excuse.

For a change of pace, a catch up moment with my open mic at Java Mammas…

And now for something COMPLETELY different – Kristen and I go to Strasburg, PA to Dutch Wonderland, the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania and to Strasburg Rail Road!
