It’s always frustrating when something you were looking forward to doesn’t quite fly as planned.  Especially since we’ve had a series of really great nights, the performance last night on Columbia Access Television was something of a disappointment.  Even more frustrating to know that that puppy was being broadcast Live, so every little clumsy mistake and misspeak and misstep was out there instantly, leaving the impression that we’re not quite as professional as I like to think we are.

Heather and I – still happy to wander together after all these years! (Happy Five Years and Seven Months!)

Death!

Greetings from Columbia, Missouri.  A beautiful college town halfway between one end of the state and the other.  We could set our course East and drive for two hours and land back in Saint Louis, or set our sights West and drive for two hours to Kansas City.

We’re maybe 12 hours north of Texas and maybe a little bit further south than that of Canada – in truth, as out-of-the-way as I tend to think it is – Columbia is right in the middle of everything.  It’s one of the towns that calls to us with a little syren song of “IF you were to leave Maryland, you should come to meeeee”.

I’m eating a Pop Tart which, despite my protestations when I was younger, I realize does NOT constitute a very good breakfast.  Heather’s in bed with Max (no rumours please – Max is a beagle!) and I’m enjoying the fact that since today’s only show is on radio, I have absolutely no need to take a shower!

My shoulder’s been vacillating between a hot ache and shooting pain over the last several days and has had me really worried, but it seems to have settled down today after a night of sleeping in a more regularly HUMAN position with a heating pad embracing the joint.  Also – though Max is great and keeps the bed warm, I’m really glad that this morning he was sleeping on HEATHER’S feet and not mine!

Ploo.  In any case – I’d better buckle down and get some work done.  The Pop Tart may not be a complete and healthy breakfast, but it certainly should give me enough sugar to attack my day.  Which I shall NOT spend watching Knight Rider!
