Oh sweet Journal, what do I have to say to you?  Not that much, I’m afraid – it’s been a combination of busy and boring which makes for very full Living, but makes for kind of crap stories.  Even my desire to be upset about politics seems to be somewhat abandoning me at the moment.

Heather and I kicking off the Pete Seeger 90th Birthday Party at the Institute of Musical Traditions in Rockville, MD. After the show we heard some good things about our set but MAN we felt out of place!

I’m sitting at Java Mammas, thinking about the upcoming night.  About the fact that I’ve booked two 13 year-olds who can outplay me in their sleep, about how I’m going to get to sit and be wowed at them, but feel slightly threatened at the same time.

And I’m okay with that – sometimes you’ve just got to sit back and marvel at the world.

We had a patch of sunshine for a couple of days here in Maryland, but now we’re delving back into the silvery grey of stormy spring. I’m welcoming the energy, but very afraid for the three outdoor performances we’ve got coming up this weekend. Fortunately, all three contracts say “rain or shine”….

Tony Calato, drummer for Sarah Pinsker’s band the Stalking Horses, joined Teporah Belezikian and I for Teporah’s CD release. Or more likely I joined them. It was a very fun night but we’d only practiced for an hour and a half and suddenly the set was 3 hours long!!!!
Teporah Belezikian’s CD release party at Tyson’s Tavern in Baltimore, MD – with Tony on drums, Ash on percussion and me on lead guitar. Good times were had. And a lot of other times as well. There was a Lovely blonde pixie-chick who’d had far more martini than she could handle, dancing in circles and spinning around, spilling some of her drink on Ash and herself on every revolution – she kept looking up as if she thought the ceiling must be leaking. Later, when we were ready to get paid and go HOME, we had to wait because the manager was having to deal with aforementioned pixie-chick in the bathroom where she was being Unfortunate.
