It’s the last-minute punch before the Falcon Ridge Most-Wanted tour kicks off on Friday and I’m realizing how hard it is to discuss sometimes. I should just be saying “it’s one Hell of a show!” and talk about the artists – people who see “Falcon Ridge” at the top of the flier dismiss it because they think it’s just about the New York-based folk festival. People don’t read past the word “bluegrass”. People don’t know we’re talking about Friday. The last couple of days have just been a nightmare of texts and phone calls and tweets and Facebook posts and emails… basically doing everything I’ve done for the last month, and doing it again, all within 96 hours. I guess it’s good to have everyone suddenly paying attention, but it sure would’ve been easier if people had gotten on board and taken notice a couple of weeks ago.
I’ve been recording songs for Ash, doing press for the FRFF Most-Wanted shows this weekend, working at the shop, putting together tech for Friday, responding to publicity requests for the HMT In-House series as well as my open mic. I’ve been doing laundry, have band practice tonight, record more of Ash tomorrow and have a meeting about the Takoma Park Folk Festival down in Silver Spring tomorrow. Friday’s the big show, Saturday’s a NERFA event that will probably have us in Bethesda from 10am to 10pm and then Sunday we drive to Philly to do the second FRFF M-W show.
I’m feeling a little overwhelmed. Someone send me a hug! (yes, I can get them locally, but quantity’s never a bad thing!)

Jake playing accordion. So delicious. I can’t wait till we’re all jamming together! Twrrr. Dave Eisner of House of Musical Traditions was the MC for the night and is a huge Yankees fan – and Pesky J. Nixon, with a band name that references the Red Sox, didn’t know what they were in for. Jake looked slightly stunned by the outpouring of Dave’s … cleverness… And Pesky J. Nixon look at one another sort of amazed that Dave’ diatribe could still be rambling on word. Eisner on the other hand was on a roll and was in the midst of perhaps his finest moment ever. Pesky J. Nixon finally DID get the opportunity to play some music – and they were absolutely merciless with our heartstrings. They opened with John Brown and amazingly, it got better from there. Kara on mandolin is an exquisite addition. ilyAIMY performing at the Takoma Park Community Center in Takoma Park, MD – generally tearing shit up.
