We got in, played the show and got out. I think we dropped close to $80 on parking on tolls over the course of the day and the show itself was underpopulated – but the people that WERE there were all the ones I really wanted to see. Either old, old, old friends (first kiss!) or other members of the musical community that we respect INTENSELY. Matt Nakoa, the lead-singer of Bobtown, a bunch of others that frankly blow my mind to even be on their radar…
The show was fun – we even played Superstition with Pesky J. Nixon adding accordion and mandolin. There were a lot of good crossover moments and Jake and Eric and Ethan are just SO much fun to be around. I’ll be able to appreciate that even more when we’re not in the difficult confines of the uber-stressful New York City.
The snow’s been coming down heavier and heavier over the course of the night and I’m amazed that anyone came out in such a pedestrian city. We did our best to warm them with hugs and coffee and music, but there were even a couple of people that came out even though they couldn’t make it for the music itself.
I feel really, really Loved.
Despite the Love – I AM really, really glad to be out of that horrible city.
