June 30th, 2013.

Quinton Randal performing at my Teavolve open mic and demonstrating why you DON’T use glass slides! I’m a brass man myself.

I am a sleeeeepy button. But it’s time to run my open mic. In the last month (35 days) I’ve had no day “off”. I’ve had 6 nights where I wasn’t playing music, but five of those nights I recorded music, and one night I attended a meeting ABOUT music.  Thursday is the 4th of July, so I’m not sure if it counts or not, but it will be my first day off in over a month.  Actually staring at the calendar and realizing this is making the feeling of exhaustion seem a lot more sensible. I get it. I’m a little burnt out.

I’m not sure that it totally shows in any way. I’m having a little bit of trouble with my enthusiasm and my body’s definitely feeling it right now as over the past 16 days I’ve played 12 of them.  My fingers are sore, my spine just aches from hauling gear and my voice feels permanently warmed up.  I guess the latter’s a good thing….

June 19th found ilyAIMY fighting their way through Washington DC to play the Austin Grill all up in the nation’s capitol. I found this red light, traffic and the capitol to be strangely appropriate. That weekend we wandered out to Charles Town, WV to crash with our friends in preparation for doing a couple of gigs in neighbouring Purcellville, VA.

Generally I LIKE the feeling of abused parts that playing a lot gives me, but at the moment I’m definitely feeling a bit worn down. My bank account feels nicely padded and in general my world’s pretty comfortable, but I’m ready for a break.

Thursday. The Fourth of July. As long as we have the sense to take it easy and not stress ourselves out over the fireworks it should be really, really, really delicious.

Mmm. Speaking of delicious I picked up a bottle of chocolate covered maple smoked bacon soda. Wait. Did I say delicious?  That’s DEFINITELY a sign that I’m pretty fucking burnt OUT.
