Ugh. So if I had a choice betwixt never experiencing the pleasures of the nose again: Lovely scents, Eskimo kisses, general nasal nuzzlings and the incredible knowledge that our parking spot at the Wayfaring Buckeye is the most pine-scented and fragrant parking spot ever – and never dealing with nasal discomfort again, I’d cut this damn thing off in a second.
I mean, there’s plenty of people who’s claim to fame is rooted in some injury or deformity. I could get a hook. In my face. And I’d still play the Hell out my guitar. But man… the last couple of days have been filled with sniffles and snuffles and sneezing, and though that seems to have died down, the interior of my nose holes HUUUUURT.
Just an update. The show at Columbus Bar was sadly under-populated, but a good time had – and fans came together to put us up at Hotel Indigo, which is a uber-cool local hotel and architectural museum.
Tuesday we took it easy and drove to Columbus, OH and hung out with Jason and Alisa. They took us out to an amazing retro video game arcade. We drank drinks named after 80s icons (I didn’t like Dolf Lundgren as much as I’d hoped though Ralph Machio was pretty good… I really found Love with the overly-pink Tawney Kitaine – all of which I’ll have to double-check the spelling of). I kicked Heather’s ass at Millipede but she still made a good showing of herself with the pinball machines. Good times were perpetrated.
Last night we played the Wayfaring Buckeye and unfortunately had to move the show inside due to rain. Still saw plenty of local friends and fans and had a nice little house concert. We had our own little attic room to occupy and slept hard (though nasally uncomfortable) and got up this morning and walked out to the Blue Danube to get breakfast. Cool place. Goood spicy breakfast. Interesting art on the ceiling.
Rainbows and snow this morning. Twrr.
Kristen playing Tron at the 16 Bit Arcade. This was a very, very frustrating game and I’m kind of amazed there are any surviving machines. I wanted to destroy it after one game. Yeah – so video games were just never a part of my upbringing. We had a Commodore 64 and whatever games would come on the free floppies that came with C64 Magazine, but all my friends had Ataris and Colecos or whatever else was out there, and THAT wasn’t any fun, because it meant that if you went over to their houses they knew the game really well and you spent a lot of time and they spent a lot of time showing you how awesome Pit Fall was. I definitely never did the arcade thing because it just seemed a waste of money. Enter the 16 Bit Arcade in Columbus, OH, where the games are free as long as you’re having a drink, and all the drinks are named after 80s icons so you’ve GOT to keep trying them because after you’ve tried Tawni Kitaen you HAVE to taste some Ralph Macchio… we had a LOT of fun.
