On the way to Spokane WA we stopped at a scenic overlook – and BOY was it scenic, and BOY did it overlook. (at the Wild Horse Monument overlooking the Ashington River in Washington).
Somehow I was NOT allowed to stop here.

After the long sprint last night, after last-minute directional confusion due to an unbuilt bridge that the GPS thought was there, after arriving at our friend’s beautiful brand-new-to-them home here in Spokane, WA, I guess it’s forgivable that I was suffering a little bit of mental confusion this morning.

The house itself is hidden away behind tall, beautiful pine trees – long and slender and graceful and dense – they coniferous surroundings have been inescapable since Yellowstone and they are Lovely companions, but they’re wiping out that morning cue that serves me so well – sunlight totally fails to stream down to us despite the huge windows, and my brain was REFUSING to kick into gear.

 Yes, I can drive too.

Then there was the shower: I shave, I putter, I place all my shower paraphernalia on an accessible ledge and work on figuring out the water – and then after careful deliberation, I climb on in. A fairly straightforward morning ritual! And then as I turn from MY shower-stuffs I find my shower-stuffs before me! Beyond that, there are long, light brown strands on the tile, much in the way I’ll place any hairs lost to be collected and thrown out later – now, this may be TMI, but my point is is that it threw me into complete confusion : this is my stuff, right? I’ve been here for how long? I went through a little bit of déjà vu, a little bit of Groundhog Day and a little bit of dizziness all rolled into one until I rememberedthat our host has long luscious locks not unlike my own and I turned back around and saw all MY shower stuffs behind me…

Still, same conditioner, same shampoo and same face gunk – my brain wasn’t ready for dopplegoo just yet.

Notes – Sean Morse makes me cry – and made me laugh after. He has super powers.
