I’m in a rough place. There’s nothing but angst on the radio and the news is horrific. I tell myself : it’s not that we Live in a shitty world, we Live in a world where shitty things happen. It’s not that we Live in a shitty country – we Live in a country where shitty things happen. By extension you could claim we Live in a world that’s not full of shitty people, just people who do shitty things… however, people are defined by their actions and we don’t get off so easily. Oh Rush, thank you for your wisdom – “If you choose not to choose you still have made a choice!” Yeah, and choosing alcohol to avoid responsibility in other choices began with a choice… and I’m not talking about Rolling Stone, I’m talking about car keys.
We all have our triggers, and I’m getting better at controlling my flashpoints. I spend a
lot of time talking down other people or swallowing my anger. DUIs aren’t funny. They’re potentially close to homicide. Except the perpetrator isn’t even giving a fellow human the value of making a decision about their Lives. They’re just showing a nonchalant non-care about whether or not the people around them Live or die. It’s pretty high on the ultimate expression of not recognizing the value of their fellow human beings – people who don’t think need to have someone else do their thinking for them… but we value our alcohol more than our freedom from being struck down by drug-induced idiots in 2000lbs of speeding steel.
Whatever. I’m judgey. Looking forward to writing about how much I Love music instead.
