Hee! Always flattering to see our name on a t-shirt while we’re wandering the festival grounds – even though, because of context, I can be almost CERTAIN that the last time I saw this man he was naked. So Sunday afternoon it was time for farewells and departures – and farewell selfies! rob and Jake selfie! Our beards DO look good together…rob and Crystal (Lost and Found Tent coordinator) selfie!!! (she recovered)Seth Morgan and rob selfie! Two of my favourite people – and two people who I admire most in this world. Pat Wictor has shown me guitar tricks and hair tricks, both of which I’ve struggled to emulate. Probably one of the most … important? … moments for me for the whole weekend (spiritually at least) was having a good conversation with Pat in the parking lot late Saturday night as we were loading out. Mutual admiration and someone about ten years further down the line can do wonders for the soul, especially since in the days leading UP to this weekend at Falcon Ridge I was in a particularly bad place. The other face of course is none other than the beautiful and talented Matt Nakoa – someone who blows my mind every time I see him. He’s one of the most musically-talented people I’ve ever met – a marvelous writer and an incredible performer – and both of those talents pale in comparison to the man’s VOICE. You get all those things in one place and you expect him to be a bit of a dick – but he’s even one of the nicest, most humble people I know. I’m naturally suspicious, but over the years I’ve come to accept this as not just an act, but the soul of a truly wonderful human being.Okay – Ethan Baird and rob selfie. I truly had no idea that he was licking my hat. I mean… I guess it’s all fair and I probably deserved this… but dude! Our first meal away from Falcon Ridge – some really excellent sushi!
