So – because being an artist, musician, dreamer – whathaveyou – is inherently reliant on your own self-belief and ego, we’re frequent targets of scammers trying to promise things that are too good to be true. And because there are so many of us and we get tired and let our guard down, often the promises don’t have to be THAT good.
Today I got contacted by a company that I’m not that into. When I was heavily researching particular options they were the company I DIDN’T go with – and I’m using guarded language here because I’m arrogant enough to believe that somehow I could show up on their radar and I’d HATE to burn a bridge, even though at the moment I’m not interested in crossing it – and I just received an email that says basically “hey, like you’re playing, interested in trying one of these?” It’s not an endorsement deal, in fact they bluntly say that “because most of our products are used by professionals, we do not offer full endorsements” but would like to offer me their product for less than half of what it sells for in stores – and knowing how pricing in the real world works, that means they’re offering way-better-than-wholesale pricing. That’s cool. We’ll ride right over the backhanded slap of “most of our products are used by professionals” being an implication that I’m NOT one.
Meh. Mostly I’ve got a huge ego and by now there’s very little out there that seems to point to any reason that it should exist. At the moment bookings are slow, the world is slow. Of course, the main reason for that is that I took a two month vacation and then wrote for a full month. That shit has ripples.
Ew. Ripple shit. Anywho, I’ve been spending a LOT of time coding and recoding in the past couple of days, and in the NEXT couple of days I plan to start hammering the booking circles. Go forth (no longer quite) young rob, and CONQUER!!!
