Driving driving. Headed down to Rockville. REM song stuck in my head. Not stuck enough for me to learn it though. Wedding’s coming up fast. Takoma Park Folk Festival is coming up faster. The organization of the festival is a lot MORE than I’d expected.

Last year was supposed to be a hand off of the Program Committee from the previous chair to me, but the festival fell over completely, and so there’s a year gap in all relationships, in institutional memory, and that hand off is less a “so this is what I’m doing” and more of a “uhm… do you have any idea how you did?”

as above – drivin’ drivin’…

It’s a LOT of work, the majority of which is something that I seem to spend all the rest of my time doing as well : people wrangling. Yeah, herding cats. Tonight’s a paying the bills kind of show, but generally pretty satisfying, and I feel I’ve always got to show up and hit it 110% for those rare bars who are all too happy to actually be booking original music. I take a lot of pride in playing whatever it takes to get someone’s attention, but all the better when it’s mine all mine.

Shame about the generic food truck tonight though. Usually they’re works of art and they take a lot of pride in their food too. Tonight however… plain red trailer serving pretty plain food. Pretty much the definition of meh. Well, lezgo spice it up.
