July 19th found me two-timing, maybe even three-timing my own open mics…
Indeed, I really ought to go out and visit other events more frequently. It’s a failing. I’ve been seeing advertisements for the Baltimore County Artists’ Guild open mic for months, but the day-of the thing is generally more or less invisible. So this time I put it on my calendar and VOWED to get out to it! Much to my surprise there were a number of familiar faces and it was overall a great night.
Afterwards I went on over to a local bar to where Bill’s Music Warehouse was hosting an Ellicott City fundraiser. I was glad to have friends in this room as well as it… was not my typical robbish environment.
Our sound guy for the evening at Baltimore County Artist Guild’s open mic. Charles! I haven’t seen him for a while… he invited me to his 90th birthday party – gotta clear my calendar! Good to see Pat O’Neall out and about – he was really solid tonight. Performers at the Bill’s Music Warehouse Benefit for Ellicott City open mic. When I walked in I immediately walked over and excitedly sat next to this guy thinking he was Joey. It’s not Joey. Other friends including Quinton Randall and Morell popped in for some incredible music. Wanderlight at the Ellicott City benefit open mic.
Kristen catching a moment of our load in at the Fells Point Tavern on July 21st, 2018. Me catching a moment of our load out at the Fells Point Tavern on July 22nd, 2018.
If only that one went there and THIS one went HERE.
Oh the frustration over this year’s weather is acute. Above – we played the Fells Point Tavern on a night when it was… AMAZING outside. Probably the only NICE night we’ve had in forever, kind of blustery, amazing temperature… no-one wanted to be INSIDE A LITTLE BAR in an outdoor town… and then the next night, in our beautiful Herndon Arts Space, thunderstorms and torrential rains kept people home and away from our indoor gig… if only these two things had been inversed… sigh.
