Some upDates…

Happy rob Day!!!
Heather surprised me with a roll-away rabbit! I surprised the rabbit with a xenomorph. A package from my brother… Heather playing my BIGGEST guitar. Firestone’s surprised me by following me on Facebook and knowing they needed to dessert me. Quite intensely. Sooo good. Sooo thankful Heather helped me eat all this. Playing Firestone’s in Frederick, MD for my birthday. “Just” a bar gig maybe, but it was a really fun night. Much BETTER way to kick off my 44th year! Loading out from Firestone’s, helped on our way be old friends and a Montrealian dirtbike team, we see that Frederick Playlist is advertising our big Valentine’s Day show!!! I greatly appreciate that my mother helps me in this way!!! Birthday cards and birthday stickers… The cat honestly doesn’t care about rob Day, but he was awake to welcome me home. (not really, he’s never awake, but he wakes up when I come home… I MIGHT feed him after all…)
My new car!!!
The band gathered their resources and surprised me with the James Bond 007 Lego Aston Martin!!! I had forgotten the thrill of opening a Lego set and laying out the pieces – and Kristen’s never put together a Lego set at ALL – so this was kind of an adventure.
The Aston Martin is broken into four stages and we worked through about one stage per James Bond movie, sticking to the flicks with the Aston Martin DB5 in it of course. We kicked off with Goldfinger and had a chassis put together… by the end of Thunderball we had a couple of doors and a secret phone! Lest you think our rate of progress pathetic, keep in mind we were also taking breaks to scroffle the cat and eat the chocolate cake my mom sent me!
I sort of sensed that this might be what’s inside the box – though I was surprised by the weight and thought “maybe no”… but no… MAYBE YES!!!! Just about 1,300 pieces. No problem! Kristen gets learned on the way of the Lego! I Love the fact that as I’m putting it together I actually don’t entirely know what does what… what DOES this red lever do? Logically it SHOULD be the ejection seat… Holy crap, this is bigger than I was expecting. (that’s what SHE said!!!)
February 9th, 2019 in Takoma Park, MD.
We frankly really, really needed a show like this. Rowan joined us for a wonderful show at Cabin Concerts, a house concert series in Takoma Park, MD. We played to a packed house – and if it wasn’t TECHNICALLY “sold out” – any additional comers would’ve been sitting on the floor in the kitchen – I don’t know that there are any pics of the performance – but here we are sound checking and setting up…
February 11th, 2019 at Teavolve w Conor Brendan.
So February 11th I was SUPPOSED to be playing in Frederick, MD and Heather was supposed to be guest-hosting my open mic night. I was always back-and-forth on this because Conor Brendan is one of my favourite Baltimore voices and I was sad to miss him… but then the snooooows came. My show got snowed out, but that’s okay cause Heather got snowed IN and I had to take care of my open mic after all!
Featured artist Conor Brendan. Another great side-effect of the changeup of scheduling – Sharif came to the open mic! Questionable dance moves…
After my open mic I took my time coming home and stopped to take a couple of photographs of the local town encased in ice…
