Before heading to the Tuesday night open mic over at White Horse Black Mountain we dropped by our hosts’ gallery : the Odyssey Center for Ceramic Arts is an incredible collective – and the artists that form the co-op vary in aesthetic from the extremely refined (like Ty and Julie’s practically Victorian work) to the more typically “crafty”, to political to whimsical to palm sheep. We could’ve spent a LONG time here… but we had stuff to get to!
Okay, we’d gotten our visual art fix, so it was time to get our BBQ fix. However, this being Asheville, apparently this has to come with an art fix too! Here’s a bunch of graffiti outside of (and some inside of) 12 Bones Smokehouse. The food was delicious too, but not quite as photogenic.
Noooooo!

Bob Hinkle… on top of everything else is LEFT HANDED!!!
A couple performing at the WHBM open mic – hamboning! It was a good-sounding night – but this guy’s thighs could’ve been miked better… cause that’s a concern with hambonin!
The host for the White Horse Black Mountain open mic had a surprisingly strong voice and was suddenly treating us to some particularly awesome falsetto yodeling!Claw comparisons… Another fun coincidence, their session was being run by our old friend Robin Bullock!
Uh huh. Brothers Wolf? Saving kittens? THAT’S a TRAP!!!! Just enjoying the look and feel of downtown Asheville before our show… Exploring the Grove Arcade in Asheville, NC.
