July 29th, 2019 at Teavolve’s open mic. A great night, fabulous mix of music and poetry with an incredible featured artist to boot. Dana Koch’s The Dead Pens put on a great show, and I’m overly stunned by her. So grateful to Eric Scott for introducing us back in Annapolis! Truly, an amazing voice, great piano – and a very fun band. Glad to see what she hath wrought!
A little bit of a weird night though – in that I feel like I had to do a bit more of “no, don’t corner the women” sort of community management than I’ve had to do – like, not since I’d kicked out Lou Jean-Paolo have I had to step up to someone and say “okay, that’s enough” and step BETWEEN people. I feel bad because I wasn’t actually as aggressive as I ought to have been about this, missing one interaction entirely till almost the end of the night. Left me feeling sour for the rest of the night because people can’t have nice things…
Holy crap. Wynton. Medusa’s Disco is the name of the band. Check them out. Cause holy crap.
