April 21st, 2020. Abominable.

My back hurts. Abominably. Like the snowman. He’s clawing somewhere in my lower back and I can’t even point to gear as the issue. Maybe I pulled something while working out, though I feel like I’ve been a bit slack about that recently. Maybe I just sat at the computer too long. S’no good because an awful lot of my Life consists of sitting at the computer right now. Maybe it’s just a random 45ism. They seem common enough.

They greet me, but I may not play them at this time.

It’s a grey day outside and yesterday was EXHAUSTING. I plan to take things pretty easy today, but I’ve still got tasks and songs and things that i plan to work on. I’ve listened to too much news today, have at least one conference call and one Zoom meeting scheduled, so even the slow days (no webcast!) are simply NOT slow.

Got to record a little show with Lea this weekend. That was actually a real bright spot – she shines with optimism and I’m grateful for her.

Last night’s open mic was NOT smooth. I’d like to think that from the outside it was pretty seamlessish, but from the back end there was a LOT of scramble. Unfortunately a lot of it was undermined by tech issues, horrible sound quality, people not following directions – and in addition – things not working even WHEN they followed directions the first time, because they couldn’t repeat what they’d done. All of it’s just spectacularly exhauting – horribly discouraging.

We don’t have a big house, but there are some nooks and crannies I’ve managed to never explore. Poking a light up underneath the stairs I encountered the warranty certificate for our oil burner installed some 80 years ago.

Kristen’s stirring upstairs, which means I should get my day a little more heftily under way – I’ve been up since seven and don’t have much to show for it yet. I’m endeavouring to be a productive member of society – even if said production involves an awful lot of “restart the application and please HOLD down the refresh button, don’t tap it” kind of messages that aren’t welcome. Sigh.
