May 26th, 2020. My eyes are tired.

Good on you neighbour. That sounded like a more typical pile of beer bottles hitting the recycling pile. I hope that’s a good sign. There may sound like there’s judgement in that tone, but there really isn’t. You’ve got a great back porch, a good batch of friends, a good patch of shade. I envy your capacity for resting on the back porch, and the ultimate relaxation that seems to come with knowing God’s got your back while you sit with a beer and a cigarette. There’s no judgement here. A good deal of jealousy though.

Ironically, I think I’ve generally been sleeping better over the course of Coronapocalypse. With that comes fewer spikes of depression and in general, though I’m not working out like I should, not getting out like I need to, my MENTAL health is probably on the uptick.

And the social interaction of my open mics are definitely key to that. Last night I took another page from my “it ain’t broke but let’s fix it” handbook and made my open mic one little bit more complicated than it was two weeks ago (though marginally LESS complicated than it was last week) by running the whole thing through Zoom and then rebroadcasting that through Streamyard. For all that it’s a LOT more footwork for me, it’s a lot more satisfying having that many people “in the room”. There were a couple of lessons learned but the biggest one was just the reinforcement of how much I Love being able to gather people together.

Though – holy crap – trying to figure out WHERE people are on a screen in any given circumstance is a LOT harder when there’s 18 of you than when there’s just 6!

I certainly want to continue upping my game in various ways, but I think I’m close to cracking how my open mics will run. At least until the next app update, you know?

Baby steps.

Oh – and because I didn’t sleep much last night (like I said – an outlier) this post has completely meandered away from what I was going to talk about. I don’t even remember my point.
