Happy Thanksgiving my friends. We Love you and We Miss You indeed – and just as a quick, kind of cliché post – I want to say I’m so very thankful that so far COVID hasn’t struck too close to home: that though a number of friends have been hospitalized, actual deaths have been few and far between. My immediate friends and family have emerged from their scares none too worse for wear. Just worn, no worse.
Kristen and I have been lucky so far – but I think this is a Thanksgiving where we’ve made a lot of our own luck through smart decisions – but we’re in a better position than most. And we’re thankful for that.
I’m thankful for my friends and family and our fans. I’m thankful that when we go Live and play our little hearts out that it’s not just good for us – that we’re helping … well… our friends and family and fans. In this inordinately bizarre, horrific year – it’s all the more important to be thankful for what we’ve got and for all that we hold dear. Today I’m breathing clear and in the past 24 hours I’ve gotten to do what I Love most with some people that I Love most – and if you push that back a week and a day – well, Heather and I celebrating 19 years together is ABSOLUTELY something to be thankful for.
I’m thankful that I’m not suffering through this pandemic 15 years ago. The isolation would’ve been crushing. I’m thankful that it’s a beautiful day so I can invite my mother over for an early dinner in the sunshine and open air, as opposed to worrying that she was going to spend it alone. I’m grateful that my wife, while making what smells to be an amazing feast, is rocking the HELL out to Alice in Chains and Rage Against the Machine and that the cat, who is in the midst of a turkey frenzy, is moderately leash-trained and will be able to join us outside for dinner.
I’m thankful for big things and small things. I’m thankful for the fact that so much of the above is without caveat.
And thank you for reading. Stay safe. Maybe we can do this together next year.
