December 20th, 2020. Frederick’s Freeeezing.

All geared-up and ready to go!

Aw yeah. Went to Frederick to see the Loverly small-business boats and play in the snow! It felt a LITTLE silly to drive 45 minutes to go walk around for 45 minutes before driving home for 45 minutes. T’was Lovely to see the lights but strange to see all the people. Glad to see businesses that I Love still hanging in there – but I have mixed emotions about walking by venues that we’ve played for years with tables packed. I’m glad that they’re surviving – even thriving – but it goes to show they don’t need ilyAIMY dragging people in to gear up to 25% or 50% capacity or whatever it’s going to be and we sure don’t need to be pulling our community together to pack into those spaces with pseudo-outdoor seating sealed into plastic bubbles or hundred year-old buildings with great heat but poor ventilation.

Oh – a friend of mine just got out of quarantine! She wrote a couple of songs and hopes to send me some recordings when she’s got enough breath to get through them. She thinks she caught it the one time she went out to eat at a local diner….

Drove home to news that unemployment benefits are being extended. I hope that gives friends who’ve lost their jobs a bit of breathing room – though man – wouldn’t it have been nice to plan December withOUT worrying that benefits were going to cut off the day after Christmas?

Planning.
