I’m sleeping on the floorboards
listening to your small secret sounds
I try not to hear but my ear
follows you to the kitchen and back
I would not accept the truth
but your movement
the floor is nothing new to me
I know every crack every crevice
every splinter every snag
And I don’t know when the sun
ever slipped my grasp
I’d like to think it was one Hell of a haul
I’m just a little rabbit after all
we’re talking strength from where
I got about half way there
before I fell back to Earth
gasping for air
I’m sleeping on the floorboards
listening to your small sacred sounds
I try not to hear but my ear
follows you to the bedroom and back
I would not accept the truth
but your movement does not lie
I loathe the lock that binds me
I loathe that shut tight door
I loathe the sounds that I imagine
coming from that bedroom door
it’s head-under-the-pillow time again
I’m going to hum all night
fill my head with that noise instead
And I don’t know when the sun
ever slipped my grasp
I’d like to think it was one Hell of a PUSH
I’m just a little rabbit after all
we’re talking strength in hare
I got about half way there
before I fell back to Earth
gasping for air
you trade joy for happy
and Love for Life
i see you there laughing
well baby I tried
my hand is broken
and yet I play
it’s heaven or Hell
there’s still pain to pay
but we’re here heart to heart
and pain to pain
I thought my left hand fit your right hand
just right not quite
the dream is over
and so’s the ride
I’m sorry Mom,
I tried to get her back I tried
And I don’t know when the sun
ever slipped my grasp
I’d like to think it was one Hell of a PUSH
I’m just a little rabbit after all
we’re talking strength in hare
I got about half way there
before I fell back to Earth
gasping for air
