April 25th, 2021. Off and AWAY.

Getting away to Busy Graham’s Shore Retreats on Broad Creek. So grateful we get to run away every once in a while.

I can feel the weight falling off of me as we drive East over the Chesapeake Bay…. interesting to see HUGE freighters lined up in the bay – I don’t think I’ve seen that before.
Once over the Bay Bridge, it’s another hour to get to Royal Oak, MD. But it’s worth it.
We were very surprised to be greeted by this happy face! We were supposed to arrive to an empty house but there was some cross-over with Busy Graham, her husband and their dog – as well as a couple of OTHER folk musicians… just leavin’.
Hee! Having gotten ourselves settled we sat out front of the house and then I manifested a turtle! Simply wished it into being! Kristen looked down and he tromped out of the vegetation. I hung onto him for a while, he didn’t poop, and then I let him go. I think it was the first time I’ve picked up a turtle and NOT been pooped on. So…. huzzah!
I like seeing the strange and beautiful artifacts evolve…
… but my horseshoe crab remains! I was hoping to get out and search for these beesties but we were a couple of weeks early…
Too much sun to see where I’m aiming with my phone – will have to come back with a real camera and lay in the sand.

Homewood bricks – made in Baltimore!
Not as many little sets of balanced stones this time around… and we had no patience for balancing!
A beautiful, eclectic house – the Cove House is a strange, labyrinthine thing full of nooks and crannies on a stretch of land less than a hundred feet across betwixt bay and marsh.
Ospreys! (I know you probably can’t tell – but it’s cool to see these twin prop VTOL Naval planes in the wild)
Rowan fell to kayak fever and then fell in the water. We decided we’d not go the same route.
This little egrety beest quite purposefully flew away from me over and over and over again….
I am GOING to get a decent shot of this bird…
