June 2nd, 2023. Meet me in Saint Louis. Finally.

Not a water tower, technically – there’s just a couple of these still standing in Saint Louis – apparently a gravity-controlled relief pipe – for if the water pressure in Saint Louis got too high, water would go up this tower (or the others like it) as opposed to, you know, exploding pipes. This is the Compton Hill Water Tower, and was retired about a hundred years ago.

FINALLY.

Finally over the bridge into Missouri to play a show and see some long-lost faces. Just a little bookstore, but a bookstore filled with friends and fans, and PROVIDED by a friend and fan. Thank you!

Our friend (and fan) Chris Otto joined us for a couple of songs on his flutes and whistles, and it was a great night, +/- the fact that I couldn’t get a cookie from next door because we had to race home to meet up with Rowan, who flew in during our second set tonight.

Dunaway Books, unfortunately, is a snazzier-than-we-deserve used book store. The only thing that I kinda wanted turned out to be a first-edition copy of The Running Man priced at nearly a thousand bucks. They didn’t have pedestrian things like “Dune”, “The Last Unicorn” or “Going Postal”, or the poetry of Pablo Neruda, or ANY books that feature in our songs.

Four generations of ilyAIMY shirts!!! Thom and Katie and Susan and Chris Otto! This is, possibly, the first time we’ve ever met my VOMling Chris Otto in person! (it’s possible we’ve crossed paths at an open mic in years passed).
