I wonder what would happen if you dropped the soul of 19-year-old rob into just-about 49-year-old rob. It probably wouldn’t be pretty. The other way around might be incredible, but messy. Would 19-year-old scream out in pain from the sudden appearance of the aches and pains that I’ve had 30 years to slowly get used to? Would I be disoriented by a sudden lack of movement? Would I be horrified by my blurry vision? Would I suddenly think SO MUCH CLEARER because my hormones calmed down? Or am I MORE sex-obsessed now? I’m not driven by that hungry, thought-clouding imperative but my brain’s clouded by OTHER things. Would I be so overwhelmed by my aged calm, or feel the placidity was too close to being dead? I’d certainly be upset about belly and grey hair.
Getting older ain’t for the young, methinks.
Hey, 19-year-old me WOULD be blown away by the radiant tracts of muscle memory powered by fingers that play the guitar like a motherfucking riot….
Oh, and speaking of which, this week’s featured artist was Song Riot. After going to do a site visit at Glen Echo Park I scootled early to the Spark to set up and welcome people to the open mic.
We do this every Tuesday. Signup before 7. I start at 7. 7112 Willow Avenue in Takoma Park, MD. robsopenmics.ilyaimy.com for more information.
