Tonight was one of our fullest Sparks ever, and it was delicious. Even though I think Dave and I were pretty exhausted by the end of the night, and I had to be up EARLY in the morning, it was worth it. We’re surrounded by amazing people.
Which isn’t to say I didn’t have my mood swings. As usual we’ve been getting some pushback from some of the “supporting” organizations, but I don’t know how much more of that I’m going to put in one of these posts, simply because it was such a good night.
In addition, though I rarely check my email during the open mics, something caught my eye, completely changing the tenor of the evening, and reminding me that the music we make is important:
“My beloved [wife] has gone home to be with Jesus. We had 39 glorious years together and for 23 of those years we have been die-hard ILYAIMY fans! Y’all are actually the only band we ever fully loved together.
So… wanted you to know that the closing song for her celebration of life on Thursday 29FEB2024 will be ILYAIMY’s Oklahoma Revival. The funeral home will be rockin’!
This particular song is our fav ILYAIMY song and has gotten us through many a challenging time. Whenever we would make up I would tell her “your lips felt like forgiveness” and she would give me a knowing smile and everything would be ok again.”
The noise we make is IMPORTANT. Tonight that noise was made by…
