Day 4: Trolls!
The whole family went to the De Schorr park in Boom, Belgium (near Antwerp) to see the troll sculptures. When we arrived we found many areas were blocked off for construction of the Tomorrowland music festival – a huge annual EDM fest taking place in July. But we eventually found our way in to the wooded area where the trolls are.
These were built by Thomas Dambo, a Danish artist who has put these trolls all over the world. Check out http://trollmap.com – there are apparently a bunch in the US too! We found 6 out of the 7 here – one was on a hillside we couldn’t get to, but we saw it from afar. The park also has a “barefoot path” where you can take your shoes off and wander around in the comfortable dirt and mud (then there are foot washing stations). Rob and I opted out and photographed ducklings instead, but there were lots of large groups of kids doing the barefoot path.
