Day 17: The James Bond Museum, Nybro
So when we first confirmed we would be coming to visit Ana, I pulled up her area on Google Maps, and the landmark I saw first was the James Bond Museum. Well shit, we gotta check that out! Their website is a dizzying mid-2000s era jumble and it was hard to know what to expect, but we pulled up this morning.
The proprietor is a trip – he legally changed his name to James Bond! You watch a film at the beginning that tells his origin story. Basically his father disappeared when he was 2, and he latched on to Ian Fleming as a father figure that had some similarities to his dad. He became obsessed with James Bond and eventually opened this museum.
It’s got a bunch of vehicles from the movies, costumes, props, memorabilia, video games…everything James Bond! My favorite part was getting to play the cello from The Living Daylights!!!! The museum has a kooky roadside America feel that we always enjoy.
After that, we took a walk around one of Ana’s favorite nature spots, went to visit an exhibition of some of her glasswork at a historic home, and walked a bit around the cute town of Växjö.
