October 13th, 2024. A much needed Music City Open Mic.

Charlie’s got the drums set up. It’s time to start the music. It’s time to light the lights. Etc. Man, last weekend was amazing. Thursday night was amazing. Why do I feel so BEATEN by Sunday evening? It doesn’t matter, cause tonight’s open mic pushed ALL the right buttons!

Genuinely, how hath the world come off the rails so completely that I drove over to Morsbergers with such a sense of foreboding? I was DREADING tonight! I guess I was worried that I was going to have another dead night – but quickly people came a’pilin’ in dispelling all my fears! Something in the air tho: everyone was TIRED. Everyone had had a long week, and a long weekend too – and suffered from the sleepness – but mayhaps that fatigue lowered our boundaries – made us vulnerable. It was a night of fantastic performances and beautiful music.

Yeah. As was said by one of the performers. Some of us can afford therapy. Some of us go play open mic.

We do this every Sunday night at Morsbergers at 713 Frederick Rd, Catonsville, MD, 21228. Signup at 6.30, music at 7pm. Enter through the back at the LARGER of the two doors! (the other entrances are straight to the bar side and Boba Fett won’t always point the way!) For information about the photos and videos and usage thereof, please visit https://www.ilyaimy.com/robsopenmics/#videosAndPhotos!

A special note to DRUMMERS : recently our friend Charlie’s been coming out and setting up a kit! You’re probably welcome to play it if you ask him nicely! Though Morsbergers has a lot of metal bands on weekends, the open mic night tends to be more singer/songwriter – please be prepared to play accordingly (hot rods encouraged).
