A special note to DRUMMERS : recently our friend Charlie’s been coming out and setting up a kit! You’re probably welcome to play it if you ask him nicely! Though Morsbergers has a lot of metal bands on weekends, the open mic night tends to be more singer/songwriter – please be prepared to play accordingly (hot rods encouraged).
I think a number of people have been needing this night. The first Music City Open Mic since Trump took office and a week’s worth of him displaying every inch of the pettiness and vindictiveness that we expected. Threats on jobs, threats to our person. I don’t know that there’s any aspect of it all that’s even worse than we expected, but perhaps some of the people coming out tonight had some last vestige of optimism that Trump 2.0 wouldn’t be so bad… and you can hear it in the music. Not that it’s at all been political tonight. Simply a sense of wild abandon. It feels like some of the VOM nights on the darkest weeks of COVID where people are just CLINGING to one another.
Or maybe that’s just me.
