It was a very rare thing – a short night. I still haven’t figured out how to make my Tuesday nights in general more manageable – an average hour commute each way + 2 hours of set up and a half hour of break down PLUS a four hour open mic is simply unsustainable, but I haven’t figured out how to deal with it yet – and nights like tonight let me pretend it’s not really a problem. We were almost out before 10pm and it was a night of wonders, so I didn’t feel like I’d been shorted in any way.
Fall Risk was a LOT more fascinating than I was expecting (this was a Dave booking), ranging from a song following the tales of the Godfather movies to an almost Rage Against the Machine song with silliness baked in. I found myself listening more in general, taking fewer photographs because I was enjoying running the evening. Dave was completely tuned out so it was frankly easier running things because I wasn’t constantly course-correcting or allowing myself to step away – and with an under-three-hour night this wasn’t completely exhausting.
We do this every Tuesday. Signup before 7. I start at 7. 7112 Willow Avenue in Takoma Park, MD. robsopenmics.ilyaimy.com for more information. For information about the photos and videos and usage thereof, please click here!
