… and that chances are if all six of ilyAIMY were infected and a hundred of you came to a show, and we were all careful no-one would get sick from us – and even if we went and licked every single one of you and most of you caught Covid-19 most of you probably wouldn’t get severely ill… but with a rapidly spreading virus “most of you” and “probably” is simply not good enough, and I feel strongly we should act as the best scientific advice – unmitigated by political expediency – recommends. e.g. wash your hands and really focus on “social distancing”. Please Google “flatten the curve”. There’s a lot of intelligent information out there from a number of different angles. Here’s a pretty sensible article from Forbes that I think keeps away from the politics and just lays out the case for why it is SENSIBLE that events are being cancelled.
I’ve certainly received a couple of responses from people who think the whole thing isn’t a big deal, or think it’s just media hysteria, or even that it’s a hoax – but I urge you to do some reading. If you think the media’s lying to you, read the science. If you think the politicians are lying to you… read the medical journals. If you think the scientists are lying to you … well, get off the internet and turn in your cellphone … but then please think about the numbers. “Big Media” (BM) ABSOLUTELY has much to gain by freaking everyone out, but SXSW, Disney, the NBA… they do NOT. They have everything to lose and THEY are who’s taking decisive action. Don’t let your paranoia and cynicism override good thinking.
