r&R Streaming

rob Hinkal started streaming his regular open mic nights in 2011 as a way for touring artists to reach their back-home audiences. This developed into multi-cam video projects for both Live and recorded video projects and became integral to even stay-at-home artists during the pandemic.

With the added patience and expertise of band-partner Rowan Corbett, they have been pushing their expertise into varied formats, including regularly webcasting a weekly virtual open mic, hybrid music events, church events, the Jewish High Holidays,  multi-performer musical showcases, private therapy sessions, remote funerals and weddings. They consult on the subject to enable artists and individuals to do this themselves and also have the capacity to go mobile and come to you for events that you want to broadcast to the world. This can be a simple as simple as a solo performer sitting behind a phone, or it can get complicated with multiple cameras, pre-recorded segments, Live material, social media integration and more.

Consulting :

In the era of COVID, streaming is a necessity. As performers we NEED to keep in touch with our fans, as humans we need to keep in touch with our family and friends. Even “post-pandemic” this is not a medium that’s going away. Streaming events are here to stay. We have worked in a LOT of different formats troubleshooting ways in which performance can feel natural and can SOUND and LOOK good and it’s important that we all learn these skills! Getting our audiences past the idea that “Zoom concerts all sound bad” or “Facebook Live always looks terrible” is something that helps the entire community!

We’ll try hard to work with the gear and capacity you have on hand, but sometimes we’ll have to assign homework or give you a shopping list. We charge $50 / hr with a $50 minimum and ask that you have the following information included when you contact us :

1) Is there a specific event that you’re planning for?

2) What is your current signal chain? ? (e.g. “Just an iPhone” or “AT2010 into a QSCTM16 into a Focusrite2i2v3 into OBS on a laptop running Windows 11” – please be specific!)

3) Please run an internet speed test (you can just type “what is my upload speed” into most browsers and follow the directions!) and find your upload AND download speeds.

On-site Streaming

On-site streaming is a service that we provide as available. We charge $50 / hour for off-site preparation and $80 / hour for work on location with additional charges for jobs outside of the Baltimore / Washington Metropolitan area as well as weddings or other more “formal” events. Please contact us with details per the specific event, the internet speed at the location you’re planning to broadcast from, the distance to your internet router and your current COVID precautions. We are not currently capable of webcasting without a confirmed local internet connection.
