Of course, Joanna and Sharif fit right in. Fortunately for Sharif and his genuine Stetson, there was much food served at the house concert. After the show, I went home with about two BUCKETS of chili and all of Ed Kaitz’ delicious vegan leftovers.

We spent the weekend on the Eastern Shore – a whole new market for ilyAIMY to exploit.  And by “exploit” I mean “endeavour to rock”.  We played some beautiful places and got threatened by MIGHTY storms and children!  Indeed – we feared both the strong and the meek.  Our solution to both?  Turn it up.

Heather and I made our way back from the shore sans too much drama.  We saw some touristy goodness, but also played two bars that were surprisingly receptive to original music and general ilyAIMY stylings.  We ate 2 buckets of mussels and whatever crabcakes and fish tacos came our way.  We played a beautiful old theatre that’s been re-imagined into an incredible restaurant where they show movies and musicians as you feed.  It was my first time to Ocean City that didn’t include a midnight (or 3am) swim in February and I was grateful for it, but I burned my feet quite badly because… it wasn’t February in the middle of the night.

I swear I’m a thinker… just sometimes the smarts come on a little bit too late.

Heather’s quite good with children, even those dressed as princesses. Education was perpetrated. I just act grumpy at them till they go away – which never works because they tend to find my grumpiness quite amusing.

The drive wasn’t bad – even though we were doing the last weekend of the season, we managed to avoid nasty travel times and got in and out with an ease that I find almost… disturbing.

My Takoma Park open mic is officially moving to a new location.  Things weren’t working out at Everyday Gourmet and after Dave Eisner and I met with the owners of Capital City Cheesecake, I realized that we’d made a much better.  We’ll start up there on Sunday and though space is going to be trickier, the spirit will be RIGHT.  I hope.  We’ll see how people respond to the change of venue.

Also, we’ve been thinking about Halloween costumes and I think we MIGHT be headed towards Venture Brothers garb… Heather spotted some boots that she thinks would be perfect for dressing up as Doctor Girlfriend… which just leaves me hoping I can snag being Doctor Orpheus and trying to convince Kristen to dress up as Molotov Cocktease.
