I always knew that California would die screaming
I always knew that California – she would fight
I always dreamed that our captors – they’d die slowly

But I’d assumed with how bored I been
how thick my skin done got
how rarified my pleasure’s been
and just how bored I got
that California’s fall was every news man’s dream
and that every screaming moment
would be brought to my TV screen
California’s burning
but we’re tired of the view
the only thing that made the news
was the drowning panda bears
at the CA zoo
I’ve been glued to my monitor
someone’s posted something good
California’s sinking and she’ll burn until she floods
the riots done killed millions
and the ocean took the rest
but the only thing on my TV screen
is inhuman human interest

but we’re tired of the view
the only thing that made the news
was the drowning panda bears
at the CA zoo
up on a hill in low San Diego is a desperate losing fight
the Guard’s been called and the Army’s there and the Navy’s worked all night
3 men just died sucked down fast oh the horror of it all
and the President said though one bear’s dead the other one CANNOT fall

every time they made any progress the panda gave’m Hell
the stupid beast is more afraid of Man than of the water
he just don’t know just six hours away there’s another zoo for him to wander

A patriot’s dream of blood was seen on primetime LCD
the vicious attack came out of the blue and the reply was reflex
though the others got the medals one man got jail for shooting to save his Life

was the loss of the panda bears
