I got my first Pfizer today. Vaccination was kind of surprisingly painless from all perspectives. The shot itself went almost completely unfelt, the in and out was smooth and fast and so far at least (only three hours later) there’s not much to be spoken of when it comes to side effects. I’m kind of amazed at how many people were involved pointing you from point A (parking lot B) to point B (gate A) to point C (line C) and on and on and on. The traffic flow was frankly impressive. I want them to take over urban planning!
In any case, very glad to have the initial shot down. Another in three weeks and then… who knows… one every year for the rest of my Life? Who knows indeed. Maybe some genius will package it with the flu vaccine and we can just get this multifunction injection that hopefully HISSES in a dramatic fashion like a Star Trek hypospray so it SOUNDS like something’s happening!
And so there’s this THEORY that this will allow a slow return to normal. Not something I completely believe, if only because the Pandemic has profoundly undermined my trust in the people around me – so many of which have demonstrated a fundamental and deep sociopathy.
Do I mean that? *checks definition* “a long-term pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others”.
Yeah, yeah I kinda do.
Boiling it down to mask wearing – to the idea that rather than be CAPABLE of thinking outside of their own selves and put themselves at some level of discomfort they’ll fight against it, denigrate people, deny their concerns and add insult to potential injury. But it’s religion and it’s Black Lives Matter and it’s the entirety of Troll Culture where it’s more important for you to insult someone than to exercise and semblance of self-control.
People keep asking if “now that you’re vaccinated, when are you starting open mics again?” I don’t know – for all that I was deeply AFFECTED by seeing the spectacular organization that went into the mass vaccination sight – the smoothness of process we can put forth with hundreds and thousands of people Getting Shit Done when we want to – for all that I felt that ballet of efficiency instilled a deep awe of what we can do when we put our minds to it – well, all the surrounding circumstances have ALSO instilled a profound distrust of those around me. So no… I don’t think there’s a “when” in the question above. That’s a big fat “IF”.
