Oh the headache. Oh the eyeballs of fuzzy unidentifiable gunk. Oh I did NOT sleep enough last night. I mean, to be honest I very rarely sleep ENOUGH – but last night was particularly egregious – playing at the New Deal CafĂ©, coming home wired from the show with the Weathered Road in tow and having decidedly unhealthy late-night snacks… by 4am I still couldn’t sleep as different parts of my body phoned in aches and pains, pangs and complaints – by 8 this morning I guess the rest of
my body had completed its whining, but all of my pain responses had navigated into my skull for one last hurrah.
Coffee and Ibuprofen have made a hearty rally against the agony but I’m NOT looking forward to the day. We’ve got another awesome show lined up for tonight… just got to make it through a day at the shop.
Last night’s show was amazing. I’m more than willing to pay the price. We were rockin’ and my hair looked great. Great I tell you! It never fails to stun me how great the audience is at the New Deal Café, and of course we can’t help but respond to that. We played one of our more ferocious sets last night, and the Weathered Road was deliciously tight. They just get better and better… I guess we all do… and it’d be boring and sad if we didn’t.
Rowan and I especially had some fun moments last night, ripping through Hands and LooseN – I think Heather had a stroke of genius bringing him to the front of the stage and I think that that position change might be something we want to regularly execute.
We need a couple more bones songs to make that a better block.
I doubt anyone will complain!
Since I didn’t write much in the after-after-math of NERFA, here’s a number of photos from the drive home that got sort of disconnected… they didn’t appear in the original Journal so I’ve LONG since forgotten their significance – but I DO think they’re from our friend Robyn’s place (probably her cat) and Cyber Cafe West in Binghamton, NY referenced in my Nov 12th entry – https://www.ilyaimy.com/wordpress/2012/11/12/november-12th-2012/ – I have a vague memory of driving around looking for ANYTHING with wifi that was open in a small town in NY on a Sunday! rob 5/1/21
