October 25th, 2014.

Wow! Now no aspartame! Please welcome sucralose! Sigh. I shouldn’t gripe. I’m deadly allergic to the former. Bring on the sucralose.

I’m tired. It’s 2am and we’re 45 minutes shy of where we’re dropping off Heather with a friend in Frederick, and THAT’S 45 minutes from where Kristen and I are picking up our cars, and THAT’S 20 minutes from home. We have the right to be tired. But we’ve got a long way to go yet.

It’s been a very good tour. Mentally, I’m kind of tacking tonight / tomorrow night’s New Deal Café show on to the end of the tour as a “welcome home” kind of thing, but we’ll see out homes betwixt now and then so I guess *technically* it doesn’t count.

And I’m tired.

Tonight’s show at Greensburg was typical of the place. And by “typical” of Greensburg I mean “filled with friends”, “a lot of fun” and “we were ON”. I’m not sure what it is about that little college. They seem to get us there, and we respond in kind. Maybe it’s the fact that they’re always having gaming events right across the hall and that means the music draws “our kind” of people over. Maybe it’s just the awesomeness inherent in generally either being our first or last night on the road on any given tour…

Whatever it is, our shows there are always a LOT of fun, and tonight was no exception. They somehow even transcend that feeling I generally get, playing to college audiences, of being too damned old.

We were charming, and there was an intro to “Friday” that will probably never, never see the light of day anywhere else. Which is a shame, because it led to some great dancing.

Sigh.

Anywho, 31 minutes shy of where we’re dropping off Heather. 45 minutes from where Kristen and I get to pick up our cars. And that’s 20 minutes from home. It’s 2.10am, and I’m tired.

We woke up at a friend’s woodland hill home in Athens, OH and drove to Pittsburgh for one last show at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg – and then drove home to Baltimore. After getting home and to bed just before dawn, we took a sleep that was more of a nap before heading down to New Deal Cafe and playing a big welcome home show in Greenbelt, MD. We even called my brother and wished him a happy birthday – cause it was October 25th!
