July 1st, 2007.

Sharif and I have been working HARD for the past several days, and at the last minute we introduced our friend Robby to the mix on drums. I was nervous as Hell tonight – I knew we weren’t ready – everything from just needing more practice to not having gotten a good night’s sleep to not having eaten earlier in the day – but the practice went really, really well – and the gig was a LOT of fun. Sure enough, without Heather I missed a couple of lyrics, and with the change-ups involved in having a slightly different rhythm for so many tunes I missed several lyrics, and with the added responsibility of having to communicate changes to Robby on top of everything else, I missed some more. It was a rough night to be my mouth, but a good time was had.

If I could get a little more comfortable with it all though, I think it could be a whole lot of fun. I don’t think I have any desire to really change up the band at all – I don’t want to add a drummer – we’re so precariously, beautifully balanced at the moment – but then it sounds SO cool for so many songs… yum.

I want to drag him to other shows, to play the open mics with him… yum twice.
