Last night we got to play at the Old Bowie Town Grill – it’d been SO long since we’d last been there, it made me sad to think we’d been so sorely lacking in that place’s company (AND their food, of course). We had Keegan Corbey open for us – such an amazing player – I’d never seen him play more than a couple of songs before – never seen him play anywhere but at the College Perk open mic, really. I was glad that when given more than 15 minutes he didn’t let me down at all.
Bob, the owner, let us play a little harder, a little louder than he normally does and it was one of the most satisfying shows I’ve played in a long, long time. We just got to be so very fierce.
As the night wore on, people filtered out and we ended the night playing to a handful of really old-school people. I diverged suddenly from the setlist (as I’m wont to do) and careened around some old, old material – giving them Spiral and Molotov Swell and a couple of other tunes before coming back home to Allergy and finishing the night.
