June 20th, 2022. Slow movin’.

That Other Rob kicking things off at the Ellicott City Open Air Open Mic. A number of my Sandy Spring peeps are beginning to find me out here. I was expecting a slow day because of Father’s Day, and maybe a contentious day, because of Juneteenth – but it was actually a perfect day.

Outside of my vicious and viscous allergies, this weekend is one that I could Live forever, just about. A couple of things that I’d add, maybe a couple of miles in traffic I’d subtract, but all-in-all an extremely fine way to Live.

Oh – and maybe a sound crew I’d ditch, now that I think about it – but I can’t run sound for ALL of our gigs. Festival noises are a bit too big for me.

A beautiful day outside of Little Market Cafe.

As I type we’re running north to Delaware to return to the very first non-canceled scheduled-before-COVID gig (I think?). Last time we were up here it was in the midst of everyone finding their way, to the point that we were not-so-subtly threatened with arrest for having crossed state lines during a pandemic, and indeed it’s a little weird how many cops there are on the highways.

Yesterday I ran my open mic in Ellicott City and I’d honestly expected that Father’s Day was NOT going to be a big day for people to come and play my little open mic.

I was completely wrong on THAT and it was a fantastic day. Great list. Incredible weather. Shitty parking. But that meant I got a really good and probably-much-needed walk!
