Sunday morning. The rain’s stopped. Perhaps just paused. Many friends who’ve canceled events today pray for the latter, but many friends who’ve had things washed away would prefer the former. I’ve got to drive to Virginia and then load in a bunch of gear to a beautiful garden for Heather’s brother’s wedding, so I’d prefer if it held off for a bit. But the wind and the rain and the lashing of the weather all night was a beautiful thing. When I was awake it left me stretching my toes for pockets of cold amongst the sheets so I could feel the fall, and once I was asleep it made me dream of chases and running, short flights and leaps and rooftop Love.
Hurricane Ian has sent me my favourite autumn weather, and it’s almost noon and it looks like dusk and geese are headed wherever they head with much conversation.
I was sad for Jeni to call an end to the open mic season this week. I think people would hang in there through a couple more weeks, but as one hand taketh… Dave Eisner texted me and said HE’S got a venue where he wants my open mics to continue, and I think I’m on board with that, but it’s simply not going to compete with the sheer BEAUTY of what we’ve got at Little Market Cafe. And yet – aren’t they all the MORE beautiful because they’re transitory?
Psh. No, they’re beautiful because of all the twinkly lights. Give me eternal! And little twinkly lights.
