December 11th, 2022. It’s beginning to look a lot like…
Wednesday December 7th found us gathering in Mark H Rooney’s Taiko Bunker in College Park, MD for a long-awaited #randomactsoftaiko / ilyAIMY show. There was a lot of tacos and chaos and Heather had a family emergency that kept from being able to make it. There was much disappointment but we still managed to have a good time.
Bangin’ and whangin’. I Love my job.
Before it’s time for music today, it’s time for Christmas. I worry that Kristen only puts up with holly shit and jolly shit for ME, but she absolutely gets it. Spine wreath? Yes please!
Friday December 9th I FINALLY made it out to the local Catonsville Clubhouse! A space I’ve long hoped to visit and, if I did not find it wanting, to take advantage of for myself! I did NOT find it wanting!
Finding fine pines in the sunshine at Payne Christmas Trees in Arbutus, MD.
Before making it out to the clubhouse though, we finally found enough time to get a tree. I know it’s silly. I know it’s not particularly environmentally conscious (unless it is), but I Love that this is our tradition. We’ve got a local place. We spend too much money on a tree. We have hot chocolate. Or at least *I* have hot chocolate. We get pine needles everywhere and terrify the cat.
It’s worth it.
Ah, Heather’s butt is hung on the tree. NOW it’s Christmas!Friday night we went out to see Hiroya Tsukamoto, an exquisite finger-style acoustic guitarist, looping artist, and composer. We made friends and connections and influenced people. At the Catonsville Clubhouse in Catonsville, MD.Saturday December 10th I ran sound and stream for Lox and Vodka and Tabla for Two. Despite some pretty hefty challenges in setup and soundcheck, we got the show up and running and the music got played. Not sure that I’ve got a LOT more to say about that!
Sunday it was time to get OUT. I don’t even entirely remember all of what it was time to do, but Heather has had a really hard week and I’ve had… if not a HARD week than at least a LOT of week, so we went and visited Ellicott City to eat something delicious and explore and poke the Christmas.
When we came back later the hat was gone, so this was apparently not a sanctioned holiday install.Down at the bottom of Main Street we realized / remembered….The Railroad Museum was open… free…and alllll Christmas UPPED!!!!
Ring the bell Heather… ring … the … BELL!!!Aaaand there’s a new bookstore in town… That’s gonna add a bar!!!It’s beyoootiful! Go support Backwater Books in Ellicott City! They have the sense of a bookstore that’s being hit hard by supply chain issues but has some Terry Pratchett and some Expanse books and socks and bloody well that’s ENOUGH to open with isn’t it?!
