October 6th, 2023. Fells Point Fest.

Shelby Blondell performing at the Fells Point Fun Fest ahead of us. The sounded great out front but we got a little worried when we heard how much feedback was squallin’ away on stage. The guy at the monitors was making the universal “it’s not my fault” hand flailing signal, but Shelby took it in stride. I had NOT realized till she got off the stage, excited to see me, that she’d started out at my little Trax on Wax open mics!
Sheila takes good care of us at these Baltimore festival events. She’s been in the background of just about anything we’ve down outside in Charm City since 2019. We got into town right on time. Unfortunately, just as we crossed into Baltimore Sheila messaged me that the parking situation had changed. We’d get a parking pass once we got into the parking lot. Unfortunately, not everyone got the message and security wouldn’t let us in without a parking pass. Sheila hightailed it over to us and made it all work though. It’s what she does!

A day of ups and downs as they all can be. Up cause I was excited for the show. Down cause I was nervous for the show. Up cause everyone arrived on time but down cause the drive in had it’s ISSUES. Up cause the issues weren’t that bad but down when we saw what sound company we’d be dealing with. Up cause we got to play. Down cause everyone went their separate ways after the show.

Beautiful day. Beautiful gig. The intensities that we bring to our hometown are NOT to be denied!

Fells Point in the fall is beautiful. Cobble stones as the sun goes down. Walking down by the water. Police cars with twinkly lights.

Once Shelby was off the stage it was time for ilyAIMY to storm it. Chuck the Madd Ox had popped out too and all the photos below are his. We’d hoped he’d be able to join us as were opening with SPRING and we’d JUST done that with Live from the Lair, but the sound engineer was gracelessly completely failing to get our sound straight on the stage and I didn’t want to add variables. Hell, my request that he roll down the high-pass filter for the ONE SONG I was going to beatbox was received with so much headshaking and rolling of eyes and whining that I’m very, very glad we didn’t try to get another mic for Chuck.
